Fours
The four year old program builds on the interests, accomplishments, and skills of the three year old. Teachers continue to support children’s growth in all domains: social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and aesthetic. Many children begin to build knowledge about letters and the sounds they make. Children take more ownership at meeting time. They are eager to express complex feelings and ideas and are more responsive to other children. A four year old begins to develop perspective and is more able to appreciate the ideas of others. Teachers construct curriculum by exploring themes that are meaningful to the children and worth further research. This method of discovery is called the Project Approach which is endorsed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Ratio: 16:2
