History

LCDS was founded in 1971 by a group of parents who sought an alternative to public school education.

When our doors opened, we served children in preschool through junior high. Our philosophy and curriculum have grown from that commitment to a holistic approach to learning and a continued partnership between the school and our families. Currently, there are approximately 100 children enrolled at LCDS, ages two through five. Learning Community Day School is a non-profit, non-discriminatory, independent school, licensed by the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
