At LCDS, a talented team of teachers provide instruction in music, science, art, physical education, and yoga. These weekly or bi-weekly classes complement the learning experiences offered by classroom teachers and create additional opportunities for children to move, create, explore and problem solve.

Dara Mechanic
Art
I love teaching art to young children because their creativity is boundless and it’s incredibly rewarding to watch them express themselves and grow in confidence through their imaginations.

Deirdre Murtha
Music
I love sharing the joy of music with LCDS students in interactive, developmentally-appropriate ways that emphasize fun! Singing, listening, instrument play, movement, and stories from a wide genre of musical styles support a child’s language, imagination, fine and large motor, and social skills.

Sara Holland
Physical Education
I really enjoy being a child’s first physical education coach. When we learn to move and control our bodies, we develop confidence. I’m grateful LCDS recognizes the mental and physical benefits of exercise and sport. There’s no better experience than to hear an enthusiastic,"I did it!”

Frank Cronson
Science: Fours & Kindergarten
As a scientist, and the LCDS Science Specialist since 1980, I love sharing my interest and enthusiasm for the wonder of science with our students. I like to role model the scientific spirit of inquiry, observation, formulation, prediction, the vocabulary and the fun associated with learning.

Carolyn Mariyappa
Science: Twos & Threes
I love teaching science at LCDS because it allows me to share my passion for nature and excitement for discovering new things every day. Nothing brings me more joy than watching young children’s eyes light up as they explore, ask questions, and develop their own love of learning.

Suzanne Gautier
Spanish
I love working with kindergarteners as they're introduced to a new language. Through hands-on play, I introduce Spanish words and phrases they use in their own lives. We keep it fun and joyful and I love to hear them incorporating their new Spanish vocabulary into other parts of their day.

Marisa Kurz
Yoga
I love teaching yoga to young children because it helps build confidence and teaches them regulation skills and how to find their calm - all through movement and play.
